About public scanning

Departmental scanning lab is located on the 7th floor of Evans Hall, Room 744.  Scanning service is for instructional or administrative jobs and it is available to all authorized students and faculty afiliated with the department. Computers: iMacA, iMacB, iMacC, and iMacD are strictly for use with the attached document scanner.

Scanner reservation process

For your convenience we recommend authorized users to reserve available time-slot(s) for large scanning jobs via departmental self-service bcalendar equipment.

You may reserve more than one scanner at a time and please be mindful that during midterm and final examination schedules all four scanners can only be reserve for exam scanning jobs.

To reserve a scanner(s) choose a listed calendar in the Scanner caledars section. Click on the calendar to create a title and block off a time-slot for your scanning job reservation.

Canon DR-M160II Scanning

Using desktop with attached scanner

  • Login as "guest", leave the password field empty.
  • If the CaptureOnTouch icon is not showing on the Desktop, search it in the Applications folder.
  • Turn the scanner machine on, if needed pull out the feed and eject support.
  • Double click to "Start" the CaptureOnTouch application.
  • Place the document in the feeder (face down).
  • Click on "scan" button in CaptureOnTouch.
  • All scanned files will be deleted at logout, please ensure to save to your needed files.
  • Turn the scanner machine off.
  • Close the guest session, logout and confirm deletion of all your files.

Connect to a scanner from a laptop

  • Download and install the Software & Drivers specific to your operations system.
  • Connect scanner's USB cable to your laptop, then follow the preceding scanning instructions "Using desktop with attached scanner."
  • Turn the scanner off when finish and disconnect the USB cable.

IMPORTAN -reconnect the USB cable to its corresponding iMac desktop.
