Wired Network

Wired network access is available to faculty and long term visitors of the Department of Mathematics. Student personal computers are not eligible for this service. 

To request activation of your office data network contact the Department Facilities Manager,  Jasan Fujii:  Jaifuj@berkeley.edu.

eduroam

  • It is the primary WiFi network for the UC Berkeley campus community. 
  • Encrypted (secure) network and it requires creating a Wi-Fi account.

bSecure Remote Access VPN

  • The bSecure Remote Access VPN creates secure tunnel to campus network from off-campus locations
  • requires installation of GlobalProtect VPN client on your personal device
  • requires 2-step CalNet authentication while establishing VPN connection

Berkeley-IoT (Internet of Things)

Use Berkeley-IoT if you have these kinds of devices :

  • Game Consoles
  • Personal Assistants
  • eReaders
  • Streaming Devices
  • Printers and Scanners
  • Projectors, TVs and Signage
  • Lab Equipment (microscopes, sensors, data loggers)

Berkeley-Visitor 

  • Berkeley-Visitor is unauthenticated and unencrypted. Any data sent via the Berkeley-Visitor WiFi service could be visible to others
  • No password or special configuration is required to access the Berkeley-Visitor network.
  • Berkeley-Visitor is not intended for use by members of the campus community who have access to eduroam and Berkeley-IoT and will not allow access to the bSecure Remote Access System (GlobalProtect).
