Lecture I: "The Geometry of the Ricci Flow"
Tuesday, November 4
Sibley Auditorium - 4:10pm-5:00pm
Abstract: We will illustrate the changes in geometry which the Ricci flow produces and the formation of singularities.
Reception in 1015 Evans at 5:15 pm after Tuesday's lecture.
Lecture II: "Estimates for the Ricci Flow"
Wednesday, November 5
1 LeConte Hall - 4:10pm-5:00pm
Abstract: We will give the analytic estimates on the nonlinear parabolic system which are needed to prove the results in the first lecture, including existence, derivative estimates, curvature pinching, the Harnack estimate, and Perelman's L-function.
Lecture III: "Surgery on Spherical and Toroidal Necks"
Thursday, November 6
50 Birge Hall - 4:10pm-5:00pm
Abstract: We will discuss how to do surgery on the Ricci flow along spherical necks in finite time to avoid singularities, and the decomposition along toroidal necks as the time goes to infinity, leaving pieces which are hyperbolic or collapse.
